The Ethical Society of Police (E.S.O.P.) is an association of St. Louis police officers whose mission is to bridge communications between the community and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD). Founded in 1972 by African American police officers to address racial biases within the SLMPD and the community, E.S.O.P.’s goals are:
- Protect and serve
- Cultivate and maintain police/community relations
- Increase diversity within the police department
- Champion accountability and professionalism in law enforcement
