Every day, DiAnne L. Mueller, M.S., LPC, brings a wealth of experience and commitment with her as chief executive officer of the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery.

Since 1994, DiAnne has led the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery, an award-winning child abuse prevention agency providing a 24-hour safe haven for children whose families are experiencing a crisis. Under her direction, the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery has grown from two locations to five Crisis Nursery facilities, seven Outreach Centers and a Regional Administrative Office, for a total of 13 locations. She has expanded the organization’s capacity by more than 50 percent.

DiAnne is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Masters in Counseling from Drake University. She has served as Psychotherapist and Family Therapist at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Iowa’s Children and Family Services, and Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines; and was the first female Correctional Counselor at Joliet State Prison in the state of Illinois. She developed and supervised the psychiatric program for St. Joseph Health Center/ St. Joseph Hospital West Behavioral Medicine Department. DiAnne also served as a clinical consultant for Bridgeway Counseling Services in St. Charles, assisting in the development of a sexual abuse treatment program.

Witnessing the traumatic effects of abuse on children, DiAnne was motivated to change course and lend her talents to prevention. “Children should be able to grow up without the threat of violence. Prevention is the key to ensuring a healthy childhood and ultimately a stronger society.”

DiAnne has served as President of the St. Charles County Family Stress Council and the St. Louis Council of Child Abuse & Neglect. She is a member of the Domestic Violence Board in St. Charles, a member of the American Association of Counseling and Development, and is frequently consulted by corporate and legislative leaders for her position on issues concerning children.
