When we set out to begin work on our annual real estate awards program, we decided to make some notable changes, including changing the name of the program from Building St. Louis Awards to Commercial Real Estate Awards.
Along with that, we revamped the project categories. With the previous program, we often heard from readers and nominators that the category options were confusing, so we decided to simplify them. The categories now include: best new development, best renovation project, best industrial development, best mixed-use project, best multifamily development, and community impact. Projects had to be substantially completed in 2021 to be considered.
There was no shortage of projects and parties involved to honor and celebrate with this program in 2022. The Business Journal received 35 nominations for this year’s program, and we whittled that list down to 22 finalists. The list includes everything from local library projects to massive mixed-use developments.
Finalists and winners were selected by the Business Journal’s editorial staff based on the nominations submitted on behalf of each project. This year’s projects, once again, brought hundreds of jobs to the region and revitalized neighborhoods while adding needed services.
