Missouri high school students applying for the for 15th annual Project 21 Scholarship competition must complete their articles, posters or videos addressing the issue of underage gambling and display them in their schools by February 28, and submit their application to the Missouri Gaming Association by March 4. The Missouri Gaming Association will award six higher education scholarships totaling $7,000.
The scholarship competition is open to all Missouri high school seniors who plan to attend an institution of higher education in the United States. Students may write an essay for publication in a school newspaper or magazine, or create a poster or video. Submissions must be published in the student’s school newspaper or magazine, or displayed at the school for at least a week between January 1 and February 28. In Missouri, gambling in a casino is not permitted for anyone under the age of 21. “Project 21” is a public awareness campaign designed to empower young people to educate other youth about the dangers and consequences of underage gambling.
