The top specialty contractors in the Midwest collectively performed nearly $10 billion in business last year, according to a preliminary version of our ENR Midwest Top Specialty Contractors list. We are busy finalizing the rankings, which are based on 2017 revenues for work on projects located in the 11-state Midwest region which includes Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Early results show that revenues last year for the region’s specialty contractors were up in most areas, and especially for specialty contractors working in urban areas such as Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee and Cleveland. Solar and wind farms, hospital centers and data centers are still the project types showing the most growth across the great plains. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors were in high demand as well as steel and concrete specialty contractors. Healthy markets for glazing and restoration and historic preservation also showed in the listings. Although our original reporting deadline has passed, you can still get your specialty contracting company recognized in the listings by submitting your information through our online survey. Below is the preliminary list in alphabetical order.
