ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – McGrath & Associates has completed work on the $11 million renovation of the intensive care unit (ICU) on the 4th floor of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. McGrath served as the general contractor and construction manager on the project. The Lawrence Group was the architect.
The 36,700-square-foot renovation includes 36 new ICU rooms, patient care stations, support areas, and family waiting areas. McGrath also installed three new mechanical units and performed building infrastructure upgrades on multiple floors. A significant portion of the project was located directly above the hospital’s Central Sterile Processing Department, which prepares and distributes sterile surgical instrumentation to the OR and other areas of the hospital. McGrath followed strict contamination isolation and infectious prevention measures to ensure a safe work environment and clean air quality for patients and staff. McGrath & Associates is a 100 percent employee-owned general contractor and construction management firm specializing in commercial, health care, industrial, institutional and pharmaceutical construction projects since 1983. McGrath is a member of the Associated General Contractors, the St. Louis Construction OSHA Partnership and has been named “General Contractor of the Year” by the American Subcontractors Association Midwest Council four times out of 14 nominations.
