Last year Missouri casinos sent nearly $22 million in tax revenue to the state’s Veterans Commission Trust Fund
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Veterans and active military will be treated to free meals, discounts and other promotions at multiple Missouri casinos this Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11. Casinos honoring their military guests this Veterans Day include Casino KC, Isle of Capri Casino Boonville, Harrah’s North Kansas City, Century Casino Cape Girardeau and Century Casino Caruthersville. Other Missouri casinos also will honor their military guests and employees this Veterans Day with various giveaways or promotions. Check with each casino for details. Guests will need to present a military ID or VA card.
Veterans Day giveaways, donations and promotion are just one of the many ways that Missouri casinos honor and support veterans throughout the state. Last year, Missouri casinos sent $18.6 million in tax revenue to the state’s Veterans Commission Trust Fund, which funds healthcare at its seven veterans homes, and assists veterans and their dependents through its programs. Missouri casinos have donated more than $342.8 million to the veterans fund since gaming began in Missouri. Missouri casinos also support veterans in their local communities by funding and volunteering at local organizations.
VETERANS DAY CASINO ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
Casino KC
In honor of Veteran’s Day, Casino KC is donating the change portion of patron’s slot tickets, known as ticket-in, ticket-out (TITO), received during the fourth quarter to Veterans Community Project in Kansas City. Veterans Community Project in Kansas City provides a community of 49 tiny houses for Veterans experiencing homelessness.
Isle of Capri Casino Boonville
Active and veteran military members will receive a $20 food credit to The Brew Brothers at Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Boonville in honor of Veterans Day. The free meal credit will be available on Wednesday, November 11th from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Guests will need to present a military ID or VA card. Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Boonville active and veteran military employees will be showcased on digital signage and will also receive a $20 food credit.
Harrah’s North Kansas City
Active and veteran military guests and employees will receive a 50 percent discount at Winning Streaks sports bar on Veterans Day.
Century Casino Cape Girardeau and Caruthersville
Century Casino in Cape Girardeau and Caruthersville will be offering active and veteran military members a free Century Casino veterans hat in honor of Veterans Day. The free hat will be available on Wednesday, November 11th. Guests will need to present a military ID, DD-214 or VA card.
In addition, Century Casino will be honoring its military veteran employees by displaying their photo and giving them a free patriotic tote bag, cup and Century Casino Veterans hat.
Hollywood Casino St. Louis
Hollywood Casino St. Louis will honor its active and veteran military employees this Veterans Day with internal recognition and by giving them gift cards and special parking spaces.
In addition to supporting veterans, Missouri casinos employ more than 8,500 people, pay wages totaling more than $314 million, generate $328 million a year for education, and provide $74 million a year in taxes to their host communities. Casino tax revenue is one of Missouri’s top tax sources, with Missouri’s 13 casinos contributing more to the state in gaming tax revenue alone than all Missouri businesses combined pay in corporate income tax. Casinos also generate many millions more in annual corporate income, property and sales taxes.
