Exchange Initiative based out of St. Louis is holding the Ignite Conference on March 2-4.The conference will bring together professionals from law enforcement, medical, education, and community groups to help better understand and coordinate action against human trafficking.

The group says the public can play a big role as well if you can spot the warning signs.

"Some of the red flags of sex trafficking include victim may looked malnourished. They’re very shy, very withheld, they don’t make eye contact. Someone is controlling their every mood and move. They may have repeating bruises," said Director – Development of Exchange Initiative Kimberly Ritter.

Ritter says if you believe or suspect human trafficking is occuring in your area, you should contact your local law enforcement.
