ST. LOUIS, MO — The new BURGER KING® in Jefferson City, MO, is open and is just the second location in the world to debut and test the brand’s new restaurant design. The new Royale décor is inspired by the mid-century American road trip, made popular when BURGER KING® was established in 1954. After testing in a few select markets, the final design will become an approved interior decor package that franchisees can use for new and remodeled locations.
Maryland Heights-based Broadway Restaurant Group, which operates the new Jefferson City location, is one of a select group of United States franchisees that consults with corporate and test market concepts, including the meatless Impossible WHOPPER®, which is a huge success nationwide after being test-launched in St. Louis last Spring. The new Jefferson City location at 521 Missouri Blvd. creates 30 to 40 new jobs. Broadway Restaurant Group is hiring both crew and management positions.
Design elements of the new Royale décor include Cadillac bench seat-inspired booths, white subway tile and seamlessly integrated brand elements such as table lighting that incorporates the iconic BURGER KING® crown and ceiling lights that give the feel of WHOPPER® ingredient layers. A designed, translucent lightbox draws attention to the service counter to help guests feel welcome.
“The booths are designed after a Cadillac bench seat that harkens our guests back to a time where people and the road were one—nothing but time and enjoyment of being on the road and stopping for a quick bite to eat,” said Chris Mott, head of Architecture, Design and Construction for North America at BURGER KING®.
“Burger King has significantly upped its game over the last couple of years to stand apart from what people typically expect from a fast-food restaurant. ’Wow, this is a Burger King?’ has been the common guest feedback at new and remodeled stores,” said Henry Delouvrier, co-founder and managing partner of Broadway Restaurant Group. “There have been upgrades to the guest experience across the board—from overhauling the look and feel of the restaurants, to launching new and innovative products like the Impossible Whopper, to improving the quality of ingredients in core products.”
This is the second BURGER KING® to open in Jefferson City. The other location at 1923 Christy Dr. was reopened early September after it was severely damaged by a tornado on May 22. The new Jefferson City location creates 30 to 40 new jobs for local residents, and franchisee Broadway Restaurant Group is hiring both crew and management positions. Broadway Restaurant Group operates locations in St. Louis, across Missouri and Southern Illinois and will open several new locations in 2020.
