Fresh Thyme, a specialty retailer focused on organic products and groceries, will open the retailer’s 70th store in St. Peters on Wednesday.
“From stocking local products, hiring residents and partnering with nonprofits in the area, we are fully committed to servicing the St. Peters community as our own family,” Chris Sherrell, CEO of Fresh Thyme, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be expanding our Missouri footprint, and encourage everyone in the St. Peters community to come out and help us kick-off our family-friendly, four-day celebration.”
The first 250 shoppers in line Wednesday at the store, located at 3600 S. St. Peters Parkway, will receive a free bag of groceries, the retailer said. Fresh Thyme has filled more than 100 full-time and part-time positions at the St. Peters store, but is looking to fill additional roles.
Knoebel Construction served as the general contractor for the $5 million store, while InSite Real Estate was the developer and NORR was the architect. The 28,720-square-foot store features more than 400 bins of items and 25 percent of its floor space is dedicated to fresh produce, Knoebel said. Knoebel also constructed the St. Louis County store in the fall of 2017.
This is Fresh Thyme’s sixth store in the St. Louis area. The other stores are Ballwin, South County, O’Fallon, Kirkwood and Fairview Heights, Illinois. A Fresh Thyme store was said to anchor a planned $34 million development in Edwardsville, according to a 2016 Business Journal report.
Chicago-based Fresh Thyme has annual revenue exceeding $600 million, according to a spokesperson for the company.
