What will have St. Louisans talking in 2016? One of the big stories ahead is the future of the Rams in St. Louis and a possible new NFL stadium. On Monday, January 3, 2016, the Rams, Chargers and Raiders can formally apply for relocation to Los Angeles. Three-fourths of the NFL owners would have to approve any move. They meet January 12th and 13th in Houston. Even if Rams owner Stan Kroenke doesn’t get approval to move the Rams, that doesn’t mean a new stadium would be built.
Also ahead in 2016, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency wants to move from its outdated Soulard location. Possible options include north St. Louis or land near Scott Air Force Base. Three thousand jobs are on the line. A decision could come as early as March. Continuing construction on the Delmar Loop trolley project and the demolition of the old westbound span of the Daniel Boone Bridge will have drivers in alert. The Archgrounds construction will also continue. St. Louis is planning to host its first festival celebrating playwright Tennessee Williams, who grew up in St. Louis. It’s scheduled for five days in May in Grand Center and Forest Park. Also ahead, the National Blues Museum is set to open April 2, 2016, at Sixth and Washington downtown. Also, a new "spray and play" park is scheduled to open in Edwardsville by Memorial Day You Decide 2016, it’s an election year. The Missouri and Illinois presidential primaries are on March 15th.
