Gitana Productions has launched a youth program in Ferguson, MO, which teaches cultural leadership through the arts and cross-cultural engagement.
This program, “Global Education through the Arts,” is made possible in part by a $20,000 grant from the Monsanto Fund. CECILIA NADAL, executive director of Gitana Productions, describes it as an opportunity for diverse youth to step into each other’s shoes in a nonthreatening and authentic way, and to produce youth with greater acceptance of others and promote service to community through the arts. Students will perform in the LIVING THE DREAM tour; a message of peace, nonviolence and acceptance. The tour performs at venues such as regional community centers, churches, schools and detention centers. Ladue News © March 2016 |
