ST. LOUIS, MO – With more than 85 percent of the Loop Trolley track installed, work on one of the last major segments begins in this Monday, April 25, 5 a.m. at the Skinker/Delmar intersection.
The intersection at Skinker and Delmar will close for 12 days beginning Monday April 25. Contractors will be working around the clock to significantly reduce the number of days that track installation work will impact local businesses and residents. Temporary ADA and pedestrian crossings will be provided at the intersection. Access to the Delmar Loop shopping, restaurant and entertainment district will remain open via detours on Forest Park Parkway, Big Bend Blvd. and DeBaliviere Ave. Detours will divert traffic to: The busy intersection in the heart of the Delmar Loop is a significant north‐south and east‐west route. After exploring options to provide access for both pass-through traffic and destination trips to the Delmar Loop, officials agreed that a full closure would have the least impact. The alternate routes were chosen because they have similar capacity to Delmar and Skinker, and they do not pass through predominantly residential areas. Traffic signals along the route will be re‐timed to efficiently handle the extra traffic volumes. The detour routes will be monitored and traffic lights adjusted as needed throughout the closure period. Watch for detour signage and click on the map for complete details.
