'Grandma Millie' is safe haven for kids in crisis

84-year-old Mildred Newton is celebrating her tenth year of volunteering at the St. Louis Crisis Nursery.

The nursery is a free, 24-hour day care service for families in crisis and Millie is there to make things a little easier.

She takes two city buses for her hour-long commute so she can help dress, feed and rock the babies that are brought to the nursery.

Affectionately known as “Grandma Millie”, she is making a difference for these children.
