IGNITE: A Conference to Sparking Action Against Sex Trafficking

ECPAT-USA is proud to announce our participation with Exchange Initiative’s First Bi-Annual Trafficking Conference “IGNITE: Sparking Action Against Sex Trafficking”

The goal of IGNITE is to “facilitate action and networking for solutions.” This conference will be a substantive gathering of stakeholders discussing real world approaches to end sex trafficking in the United States. This important conference is being put together by Nix Conference and Meeting Management’s newly formed Exchange Initiative. The conference calls upon participants from many institutions including Criminal Justice Professionals, First Responders, Corporate Managers & Travel Planners, Not-for-Profit & Faith-Based Organizations, Educational Administrators & Counselors.

The conference also boasts opportunities for network with other individuals and groups in the common cause of combating sex trafficking, access to resources, information and ideas to help end human trafficking. Participants will also learn more about the three sides of the trafficking “triangle”: supply, demand and distribution. Most importantly, attendees will come home with a common action about how your organization can take a stand and make an impact.

Kimberly Ritter, Director of Development for Exchange Initiative and Senior Account Manager / Trafficking Initiative Coordinator for Nix Conference and Meeting Management says, “We are so excited to formally announce the Exchange Initiative and the IGNITE Conference. The initial response to this conference is overwhelming. The collaboration and support we are receiving from agencies from across the US confirms the present need for a network.”

There will be a special focus on the important role of Corporate Managers and Travel Planners in raising the issue of sex trafficking with travel suppliers. In 2012, Nix Conference and Meeting Management became the first meeting planners to sign the Tourism Child-Protection Code of Conduct. They led the charge of adapting the Code to fit the corporate structure into a Meeting Planners Code of Conduct and since then have been promoting the Code with peer companies and travel suppliers.
