ST. LOUIS, MO – The Loop Trolley has completed two major milestone projects, one at each end of the 2.2-mile trolley route, with the reopening of the bridge at DeBaliviere and Forest Park Parkway, and completion of the traffic roundabout in University City at Lion Gates.
The bridge over the Metro tracks at DeBaliviere and Forest Park Parkway will reopen to traffic on Friday, September 11, at 3 p.m., ___ weeks ahead of schedule and just in time for a beautiful fall weekend in Forest Park and the Delmar Loop, according to Joe Edwards, president of the Loop Trolley Transportation Development District (TDD) and owner of Blueberry Hill. “We know that the Forest Park/DeBaliviere Metro station is one of the busiest in the system so we’re very pleased to complete this construction milestone ahead of schedule,” said Edwards. “And the new roundabout eases traffic flow while creating a beautiful entrance to the Delmar Loop.” Construction on the Loop Trolley began in March, 2015 and is planned for completion in mid-2016. The trolley is expected to begin operations in late 2016 following several months of training and safety testing.
