Mobile app aims to help victims of sex trafficking By NBC4 Staff

The Exchange Initiative created a new app in 2015 called TraffickCam, designed to help combat sex trafficking all over the country.

According to TraffickCam’s website, the app makes it possible to help victims by uploading photos of the hotel rooms you stay in when you travel. Many traffickers post photos of their victims online for advertisements, and these photos can be used as evidence during investigations.

The purpose of the app is to create a photo database investigators can search to find images taken in similar locations.

The Exchange Initiative was created to “empower individuals and organizations with real resources to help end sex trafficking” according to the website.

The free app is available for both Android and Apple products, and does require access to your location to make sure the photos you are uploading are accurate.
