More than 150 Climbers to Converge on Upper Limits Chesterfield
for Gateway Boulder Bash climbing competition

WHAT:
More than 150 beginning to elite-level youth, collegiate and adult climbers from across the Midwest will converge on Upper Limits Chesterfield this Saturday for the 2018 Gateway Boulder Bash climbing competition.

This event is sanctioned by USA Climbing (USAC) for Region 501-Midwest. Rock climbing has been approved to become an Olympic event starting in the 2020 Olympics Games in Tokyo.

WHO:
Gateway Boulder Bash is open to beginner through elite level youth and adult climbers.

WHEN:
Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Youth Female: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Youth Male: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Adults (16+): 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

DETAILS:
The competition is redpoint format. Competitors will have three hours to climb any of the more than 80 boulder problems that will be set. Each individual’s score is based on their top five highest point-value problems.

Competitors will include some members of Upper Limits competitive and recreational climbing teams.  Upper Limits youth and high school climbing teams are comprised of more than 260 climbers from the St. Louis region.
