St. Louis-based general contractor and construction manager McGrath & Associates has started work on an $8.4 million project in Earth City.
It involves converting 85,000 square feet of warehouse space at a PolyAd Service facility into a “Plastic Additives Competence Center” for BYK North America Plastics.
Design and build work has begun for the construction project, which is slated for completion in July. Located at 4285 Rider Trail North, the converted space will include R&D labs and offices, a shared plastics laboratory, conference rooms and a seminar facility that will be used by BYK USA Inc. Twenty-five to 28 people will work in the converted workspace, a spokeswoman said.
BYK, a German chemicals company that is part of the ALTANA group, acquired PolyAd Services, a plastics additives manufacturer, in 2017. McGrath and Associates also handled the design and construction process of PolyAd Services’ manufacturing facility in 2015.
