STL Crisis Nursery sets Aug. 25 for 30th annual fundraiser

A constellation of STL stars will shine Aug. 25 at the 30th annual "Celebrity Waiters Night" for St. Louis Crisis Nursery.

From 4 to 10 p.m. at West County Mall, local celebs will circulate in the crowd and sell raffle tickets to raise money for the nursery, which has five nurseries and seven outreach branches serving about 7,500 children a year.

The event takes places at three restaurants in the mall: Bravo, J. Gilbert’s and McCormick & Schmick’s.

Face time has been promised by a number of television folks, including: Mike Colombo of KTVI (Channel 2); Maurice Drummond, Andre Hepkins, Mugo Odigwe and Emily Rau of KMOV (Channel 4); and Heidi Glaus of KSDK (Channel 5).

Radio raconteurs Jamie Allman of KFTK-AM 97.1; and John Carney and Larry Conners of KTRS-AM 550 are signed up to represent the wireless crowd.

Sporting types set to start are former Blues Jamal Mayers and Dwight Schofield; former NFL star Bernard Whittington; and Khalia Collier of the St. Louis Surge women’s basketball team.

The field also will include St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay; County Executive Steve Stenger; St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith and East St. Louis Mayor Emeka Jackson Hicks.
